Autumn has now settled down with ideal weather conditions: mild, sunny days with some fog and clouds, as well as cool, but not frosty, nights.
Grape maturity proceeds perfectly: freshness and acidity is preserved, sugar and aromas concentrate individually, varying from varietal to varietal; grape to grape; berry to berry.
The striking colours of the vineyards visually reflect their evolution.
This week we started to bring in grapes for our red wines. For Zweigelt and Pinot Noir, a healthy skin is of the utmost importance.
Grapes in the top sites like Heiligenstein or Lamm will be left hanging for a while; the more a grape experiences, the greater the risk, but also the greater the chance for stronger character in the wines.
