Korso Riesling Tasting, Lyra 2002 Shines
On 6 June 2004, on occasion of the VieVinum wine fair in Vienna, the wine dealer Jan-Erik Paulson once again invited journalists and other experts to an international blind tasting at the Korso Restaurant.
Like the legendary Korso tasting "Grüner Veltliner vs. Chardonnay", which brought the Austrian varietal into the international spotlight, this tasting was designed to pit Austrian greats against competition from across the world. "The best dry Rieslings from 2001 and 2002" were served, and for the producers represented it was already an honour to be admitted at the starting blocks.
Our Riesling Heiligenstein Lyra made the second place among the wines from the 2002 vintages, and was chosen as best Austrian Riesling from that year, together with Knoll’s Vinotheksfüllung. This is a wonderful confirmation of the status of our classic wine from the Heiligenstein, which reached place 4 in the overall ranking of both vintages.
"This happy result appears to me a just compensation for the fact that we did not have the opportunity of tasting all these great Rieslings," commented Willi Bründlmayer on reading the results, with a twinkle in his eye.
