Austria´s Best Sekt - Hugh Johnson Wine Guide 2008
Bründlmayer Brut "Austria´s Best Sekt" (Hugh Johnson Wine Guide 2008) and 90 Parker Points for "foodfriendly fizz"
Many European critics and wine lovers consider Willi Bründlmayer´s Vintage Sekt to be probably the "best Sparkling Wine in the German speaking world" (Stuart Pigott). And we are pleased to see this judgement once again confirmed by one of the UK´s most renowned wine critics (see headlines).
Moreover the current release of Bründlmayer Brut, vintage 2005, has got a very pleasant review in the USA:
"The latest installment of Bründlmayer´s sparkling wine, 2005 Brut, is one of his best. In addition to Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, and Chardonnay, he says he snuck a bit of Grüner Veltliner into the cuvee this year as well. Rich, creamy, leesy, and subtly nutty, this brings iodine, salty minerality to bear on white peach and cherry fruit, finishing both rich and bright, dense, yet not at all heavy (weighing in at 11,5% alcohol) and possessed of lovely balance and interplay of flavors. Furthermore, this food-friendly fizz is not a substitute for anything else on earth, but rather a thing unto itself."
