Pinot Noir Cécile 1996 - Vinea d’Or after ten years

At the “Mondial du Pinot Noir” in Sierre, Switzerland, Bründlmayer’s Pinot Noir Cécile 1996 was awarded a „Vinea d’OR“ in the category of matured wines (see illustration).

This is all the more remarkable as the 1996 vintage was one of the most difficult of the past century. Pinot Noir, however, can grow to true greatness even in cooler climates, as long as the soils are suitable and the producer exercises the greatest possible vigilance, particularly in pruning the leaves, working the soil, and selecting during the harvest.

With increasing frequency the Kamptal shows that it is perfect for Burgundian varietals. Only recently, the Swiss journal Weinwisser awarded our Pinot Noir 2005 18/20 points, the highest score of all Lower Austrian red wines.
