All Saints' Day has finally chased the leaves from the grape zone of our vines.
The Grüner Veltliner grapes are firm and fresh, Riesling much more delicate and fragile.
The last performance of the current run of "Hamlet 3" is scheduled for 20 November at the Kasino am Schwarzenbergplatz.
The well-known monologue in the wine maker version:
To harvest or not to harvest, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer.
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;

Every day, berries are falling to the ground. Birds and deer enjoy the delicious yellow grapes and their shaking affects the neighboring bunches.
We should harvest all vineyards now, but that is not only logistically impossible – in the back of our mind lurks the question whether they might not become even better if we wait…
The highlight of last week: perfectly ripe Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes.
Very good now: the vegetation between the rows has removed excess moisture from the soil, October brought only 20 ml precipitation, the wind is drying out the ripe berries.
