2006 harvest concluded
20. November 2006 | 09:26
Muskateller Auslese and Beerenauslese were the last wines harvested during this vintage, one of the most remarkable of the last decades.
All grapes were perfectly mature. Only the latest-harvested Muskateller showed a touch of botrytis.
The 2006 will receive outstanding marks in the categories “density, complexity, depth, and personality”. At the same time, these wines may not become the easiest wines for day-to-day drinking.
The first finished wines, those harvested earliest, show quality, character, and great finesse. These wines will not only be fine during their youth: their lively acidity gives them a backbone perfect for a long and harmonious development.
The red wines show particular promise, and after some years of ripening they may reveal new dimensions of quality and complexity.
