Grüner Veltliner Berg-Vogelsang

2012
90 p. Robert Parkers "The Wine Advocate", Mai 2014, review by David Schildknecht
Brundlmayer’s 2012 Gruner Veltliner Berg Vogelsang is delightfully scented with fresh lime and bittersweet iris perfume. Stone and iodine nuances such as were found as well in this year’s Terrassen bottling lend interest to an infectiously juicy and interactive performance that also features fresh green bean and resinous herbs. This cool site is really benefitting from the prevalence of warm recent vintages. Brundlmayer concurs that his Vogelsang bottlings have never tasted more satisfyingly ripe, yet the high-elevation personality and refreshment of the site continue to come through. Finishing with fine persistence, this should prove distinctively delicious and versatile through at least 2017, and quite possibly well beyond.

2008
Lively aromas of citrus, pears and fresh apples as well as a bouquet of flowers, some yeasty element in a younger state of ripeness, then minerals and typical peppery spice; dry and medium bodied, with again a lot of fruit, also quite powerful and rich in extract though well-balanced by its refreshing acidity, dense in structure, a very long and mineral finish. A classic single vineyard of a primary rock Grüner Veltliner.

2003
Animated flowery nose with fresh apples, citrus fruit, minerals and spices; the palate is rich in extract, fruit and minerals with balancing acidity; medium bodied but dense in structure, mineral finish of good length. A classic Grüner Veltliner.

2002
It´s ultra peppery, with clarity and many layers; boxwood and cress; spicy and long. (Terry Theise Estate Selections/Michael Skurnik Wines, NY)

1997
This fat, ripe wine is full of peach, lentil and mineral flavors. Very good intensity and length, with racy acidity on the finish. (Wine Spectator)

1996
Minerally, intense, cool, elegant...(The Vine, Clive Coates)

1995
Silky and caressing on the palate, this wine serves up ample aromas and flavors of pear and spice, with crisp acidity. (Wine Spectator)

1995
A deep inner mewl of rich satisfaction. A very yummacious wine! Acacia and vetiver on the nose; an elegant and generous palate that soars of an arc of fruit and substance. Spicy finish. (Terry Theise Selections/Michael Skurnik Wines, NY)
